Sub: Application in response to study permit refused on 26/10/2021 (S303981603)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I extend my gratitude to the visa high commission for allowing me another chance to present my case, reference to application no: S303981603. With appropriate training and support, I was able to do well in my professional career as a Quality Assurance Chemist. I have had extensive experience working in the field of quality assurance for biochemistry, so I have a comprehensive understanding of how such tasks are carried out. Over time, I have learned what a critical role water quality plays in the provision of safe water resources to a larger population. As I have progressed through my tenure, I have developed a strong desire to rise the career ladder and take on more challenging roles. However, I need to acquire advanced training to pursue this goal. Therefore, I intend to pursue an Advanced Diploma in Water Quality from the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Marine Institute Campus, for which I have also received a Letter of Offer. But I was denied a study permit because of the following reasons:
- I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.
- Your proposed studies are not reasonable in light of: your qualifications, previous studies, mark sheets, academic record, level of establishment, language abilities, and/or your future prospects and plans
I, therefore, take this opportunity to provide valid reasoning in favor of my candidature as a genuine temporary student entrant in Canada.
Purpose of Visit
During my visit to Canada, I intend to acquire formal training to expand my opportunities in water quality management. As a Quality Assurance Chemist with over six years of experience, I understand how crucial it is for me to fill in the existing knowledge gaps in this branch of Quality Analysis to reach the top of the career ladder. I will gain a competitive advantage and be able to take advantage of better career opportunities back home if I am equipped with the latest tools and information. As a team member, my ability to upgrade my skills in water quality will strengthen my position. As a result, I would have the authority to cater to advanced water quality projects more confidently than I do now. Acquiring technical qualifications is instrumental in advancing my career. I will gain international exposure by studying in Canada, something I am not able to do in my country. In addition to advancing my knowledge, the course in water quality will allow me to train under professional guidance. I need to expand my knowledge of water quality to set myself up for success. Studying in Canada, however, will allow me to test myself against a globalized culture in real-time. Therefore, I am expected to gain many laurels from pursuing higher education in Canada.
Why Canada?
In addition to providing excellent study environments, Canada also has exemplary teaching methods that are appreciated around the world. I will gain a widely recognized certificate and the opportunity to gain international exposure if I study in Canada. I am sure to improve my personality and delivery capabilities by studying with such a diverse group of students and polishing my skills in a multicultural environment. In regards to sustainable water management, Canada has made rapid progress in recent years; therefore, I am hopeful that I will be allowed to take part in a rewarding internship program. During this experience, I will be able to learn not only valuable lessons about the future but also about the most diverse country in the world-Canada. Thus, I am convinced that I have made the right decision by choosing Canada. In addition to having a unique health care system, Canada offers a sense of belonging to its residents, which has made me eager to begin my studies there.
Why not India?
As a result of studying in Canada, I will gain a rich learning experience, which is my top priority. My country, however, has a more theoretically oriented educational system, while Canada is more pragmatic in its education system. A study abroad program in Canada will provide me with a globally recognized qualification and sufficient international exposure, both of which are highly valued in my country. The importance of professional certifications among Indian employers is high. Comparatively, the course curriculum at the University of Newfoundland meets my study expectations. Therefore, I am sure that studying in Canada will yield the best results for me.
Why the University of Newfoundland,?
I started looking at different Water Quality programs available at different colleges in Canada as I prepared to study there. It took me days and nights to find the program that perfectly aligned with my future goals until I discovered the one offered by the University of Newfoundland College. Furthermore, Memorial University ranks third among Canadian universities in corporate-sponsored research income. Over a third of the university’s students are international, representing 90 countries. Its Marine Institute has an outstanding research infrastructure. In this prestigious university known for its multicultural collaboration, I wanted to be one of the 18,000 students. Last but not least, the tuition fee at Newfoundland and Labrador is very low compared to other universities and the expenses are low compared to other cities in Canada. The course met all of the study expectations that I had set out for myself. I am particularly interested in topics like Environmental Policy – Water Quality, Water Chemistry, Introduction to Water and Wastewater Treatment, and Remote Sensing in this program. Moreover, since I will have the opportunity to apply my skills in water quality management in a Canadian workplace, the final term of this program will be even more beneficial for me. Because of this, I consider the University of Newfoundland to be the best fit for me. Furthermore, I have had the opportunity to learn about the college’s influential faculty, unmatched infrastructure, and a range of students that have invigorated my desire to begin my program here as soon as possible.
Family ties in India
I am a happily married woman. My family includes an amazing husband and two adorable children, a three-year-old son and a ten-year-old daughter. Our family lives together and we have raised our children to be good people. A Logistics Administrator, my husband works in Akila as an employee. It would be unimaginable for me to stay away from my husband and children for too long. As a result, I will return to India as soon as my studies are completed. As a couple committed to raising our children together, we will make sure that we fulfill all their wishes and raise them in an environment that nurtures them. Furthermore, due to the aging of my parents in India and my in-laws there, it is my responsibility to make sure they are well cared for. My father was a Labour officer who worked in the Government of Puducherry while my mother is an Assistant Manager in Puducherry Government Municipality. Throughout their aging process, I wish to fulfill all of my obligations to them and give them a comfortable life. I intend to return home and settle permanently in my native country since I am a responsible mother, wife, daughter/daughter-in-law, and a professional.
Previous academic and professional qualifications
Education has always played a crucial role in my upbringing. Therefore, I have completed my bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from Pondicherry University, India in 2009. This was followed by a master’s degree in Biotechnology from Bharathidasan University, India in 2011. As a result of my devotion to my studies, I scored 90% and became a University Topper, earning a Gold Medal in appreciation of my academic efforts. Having a keen interest in up warding my educational skills, I completed a Master of Philosophy in Biotechnology with a score of 94% in 2012. Due to my impressive academic records, I secured an internship opportunity with the genetics and plant breeding department at PAJANCO Agricultural College and Research Institute. I have worked diligently since 2014 to ensure a consistent career in the field of Quality Analyzer (Biochemistry). At present, I am employed as a Quality Assurance Chemist (Bio-Chemistry) at Ammaiyar Milk Dairy and Agro Dairy Farm in Karaikal, India. My role has exposed me to developing a thorough understanding of analyzing products, maintaining the data storage of the samples, ensuring compliance with food safety policies, regularly monitoring water quality, and observing the lab activities. However, after serving in this role, I find my career opportunities to have become stagnant. I consider myself fortunate to have secured admission in the Advanced Diploma in Water Quality at the University of Newfoundland. It will enrich further career prospects for me in my country, especially The Union Territory of Pondicherry, which is my hometown and a home for numerous water packing companies.
