Financial literacy is a concept that has gained momentum with the rising awareness of the same among the people of today. Being able to manage our finances efficiently, making sound financial decisions, and achieving financial stability has become quite important, as these decisions set the course for our future. Not only individuals, but companies also struggle with keeping a check on their finances, which is when financial advisors come into the picture. These professionals hold expertise in constructing personalized financial plans to help their clients meet their financial goals. From investments to savings, from insurance to tax strategies; they have pretty much everything under their control. As I look at the skill set encompassed by this set of professionals, I believe that I too can contribute to the present financial landscape through my past knowledge and my proposed studies. Incorporating strategic risk management to handle uncertainty and implementing techniques such as predictive analytics to investigate the impact of financial decisions are the things that make the realm of finance more dynamic and interesting. All in all, finance has a bright future, and I am eager to take a plunge into the same by the way of a Master’s program in Finance from Lewis University, Illinois.

My penchant for Finance stretches out to a long period and is something that budded during my academic and professional timelines, wherein every experience has contributed towards making it an ideal career choice. I pursued my bachelor’s in Commerce, wherein I was first introduced to the intricacies of economics, accounting, banking, insurance, and finance. I learned about Financial Accounting, Tax Laws, Auditing, Financial Management, and Economics; all of which significantly built my repertoire of knowledge and prepared me for the endeavors that followed. The eagerness to satiate my appetite for learning had me opting for a Diploma in Business Management (Level 7) from the NTEC College, Auckland, New Zealand. The one-year program equipped me with a sound understanding of concepts such as Organizational Change, Business Communication, Marketing Management, Strategic Management, and Accounting and Finance. I also had the chance to apply my learnings to a business project towards the end of the program, which greatly built my analytical skills and critical thinking ability.

Post completing the program, a flourishing opportunity came in the form of a work experience in New Zealand. In the Spring of 2016, I was hired by Woolworths as an Assistant Manager and was entrusted with a host of opportunities that gave me a working understanding of the industry and instilled in me strong managerial and communication skills. I worked there for four years, throughout which, I was responsible for handling customer complaints, interviewing and recruiting new hires, providing one-on-one training to employees, spearheading marketing efforts, and ensuring smooth execution of day-to-day activities at the organization. Throughout my stint, I performed all my job responsibilities with utmost sincerity. What I also observed was the focus of the firm in ensuring that its finances were in the right place. They consulted their financial advisors on a frequent basis and relied heavily on them to make their decisions. This observation had me inclined to the world of finance and propelled me to dig deeper into it. The coronavirus pandemic brought the world to a standstill and brought me back to India. This time in my home country was a period of self-realization that had me streamlining my options and had me thinking about upgrading my skills. Since my last degree was in 2016, I believe that it is now time to upgrade my skills and knowledge and add a new feather to my cap by pursuing graduate studies in Finance.

Having attained a strong understanding of Commerce and management through my bachelor’s and international diploma, I believe that I possess the required academic base to kickstart a career in Finance. I wish to transform into a learned professional, possessing a strong understanding of Portfolio Management, Asset Valuation, and Investment Analysis and learn the applicability of these concepts in the current financial landscape. Moreover, I intend to acquire a firm grasp of financial instruments and learn the art of transforming data into insights to make sound financial decisions. To be able to give form to my learning objectives, I find a Master’s program in Finance from your illustrious institution to be a logical progression in my career trajectory.

The program aligns ideally with my learning expectations, offering a curriculum that amalgamates theory and practice. While the extensive classroom learning will equip me with an all-inclusive understanding of the global forces impacting the domain of finance and help me explore economics and accounting in greater depth; the project work will help me analyze real-time situations in the realm of finance. Through this program, I look forward to having a sound understanding of computer modeling, a technical understanding of financial instruments, and a hands-on knowledge of financial strategy. I am certain that under the mentorship of the erudite faculty at the university, I will be able to carve a niche in the field of finance, and grow into bigger shoes. When it comes to attaining higher education, the USA is one of the most popular educational destinations in the world, boasting state-of-the-art facilities, excellent academic institutions, and a plethora of growth prospects. I am confident that this academic exposure will fill the gaps in my profile and open me up to a vast spectrum of job opportunities in this highly competitive industry.

After completing the master’s program, I wish to apply all the acquired knowledge and skills towards my role as a competent finance professional, helping firms make sound financial decisions. At the university, I bring along a sound academic base, ample professional exposure, and a strong penchant to excel. Given the chance, I will make the most of every bit of learning being imparted to me and will prove to be an ideal addition to the campus. I am eager to be a part of this life-changing experience and contribute meaningfully to the tide.
