Sub: Application in response to study permit refused on 30/09/2020 (S303077133)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I, Vihaan Thakur, express my sincere gratitude to you for allowing me another opportunity to present my case and offer valid reasoning in favor of my candidature as a genuine temporary entrant in Canada. I possess a rich working experience in marketing and business analysis at our business firm. Possessing a full-fledged degree in Computer Science Engineering, I have been able to perform well at handling business data. However, to penetrate deeply into the nitty-gritty of business data management and analysis, I need to acquire formal training.  Thus, I have applied for the Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Business Analysis. I have also received a Letter of Offer from Conestoga College for the May 2022 intake. Unfortunately, my study permit was rejected. I feel obliged to have received one more chance to provide valid reasoning for the below rejection grounds:

  • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.
  • Given the applicant’s previous education and/or employment history, I am not satisfied that the motivation to pursue this particular at this point in time in Canada is reasonable. Refused under R216(1)(b)

 Purpose of Visit

Having already studied Computer Science has made me grasp an intricate view of data handling. However, while implementing the same at the organizational level, I find myself lacking the requisite skills and expertise. Thus, I intend to carve a niche for myself in this domain by obtaining a formal education in the field of Information Technology Business Analysis. While I have kept such a high aim for myself, I also wish to support it with qualitative educational experience. Thus, I have decided to pursue further studies in Canada. Due to its eminent atmosphere and peacefulness, I am drawn to fulfill my study objectives here. My intentions to visit Canada are solely backed by a strong desire to obtain dedicated training and return to my country so that I can extend full-fledged technical support to our business that I currently find limited in our organization.

Why Canada?

As we reflect upon Canada’s high-ended educational opportunities and a well-established study infrastructure across all institutions, I can think of no other country to pursue my study objectives. Canada offers a mix of the cross-cultural population which entails its prominent history and openness to the environment. Adding to this, English is the most spoken language in Canada which convinces me about seamless communication throughout my stay here. I will also be able to derive international exposure that is limited to my home country. My research about students’ rights in Canada convinces me to enjoy similar rights as that of Canadian students. Such is the highest standards that Canada has equipped in its policies and procedures. I am more than excited to experience the quality of life that Canada promises to offer to its international student immigrants. Through my experience in Canada, I would be able to incorporate similar standards back home in my work and personal life. My overall study exposure in Canada will be a life-changing incident for me that I very dearly wish to embrace.

Why Not India?

By studying in India, I will gain experience limited to the indigenous level. However, when I am aiming to expand our business horizons through this course, it is in my favor to study from Canada alone. Canada is a developed nation that India is aspiring to become. Thus, the education standards have a noticeable difference. India follows a theoretical approach while Canada employs pragmatism in delivering lessons. Being in India will keep me sticking to national boundaries while studying in Canada will broaden my outlook and give my dreams a boost to internationalize our business. All in all, it is a wiser decision for me to pursue education at this stage in Canada and not in India.

Why Information Technology Business Analysis from Conestoga College?

My keen interest in learning the intricacies of Data Analysis for business purposes drew me to Conestoga College. I found the program offered here is the most comprehensive amongst all that I have speculated so far. Being a Computer Science graduate, I intend to pursue a comprehensive course that can fulfill my overall study objectives. Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Business Analysis is certainly the one. In this course, I will study a variety of topics that include Management and Leadership Essentials, Data visualization Tools and Techniques, Management Information Systems, Project Management, Advanced Data Analytics, Business Process Flow Analysis, etc. Studying all of the above-mentioned subjects will enhance my existing potential in deliverables. Especially, hands-on knowledge and understanding of Advanced Data Analytics will help me draw meaningful patterns in our business information data. It will further my view about the correct positioning of our value chain process and inculcate robust organization in our decades-old fraternity. I am convinced that a well-equipped knowledge base will act as a catalyst to my performance in business analysis and I would be able to contribute to our business to a greater extent. Furthermore, the advanced pedagogy being followed at Conestoga is sure to elevate my technical knowledge of the practical implementation. Open library access and rigorous classroom sessions, guest lectures, industry visits, and simulation exercises will allow me to grasp the right knowledge in this most competitive branch of study.

Motivation to pursue the program

Education has served as a cornerstone towards my successful approaches in our family-run business. However, if I reflect upon my school days, I have completed my schooling in the science stream with a total of 77.41 percent in 2016. Further, I completed my graduation in Computer Science Engineering with an overall CGPA of 5.74 from the top-notch Symbiosis International University in 2020.   However, I had thirty backlogs during my graduate program due to an intense family dispute that impacted me mentally a lot at that time.  I also received a chance to intern at Kali Solutions as a Software Developer. During the internship program, I was able to recognize the potential that I have to help my father’s business upscale. From there on, I decided to support my father’s business, Khodiyar Products.  My keen interest in upscaling our business and my previous study experience in the IT field allowed me to join Khodiyar Products as a Marketing and Business Analyst. We are the manufacturers of Tube Valves, Tubeless Valves, and various Brass precision products, operating in the industry since 1979. After delving deeper into our business and marketing operations, I have realized that a long-established such as ours should have a maximum reach to date. Unfortunately, it is not the case with us. Due to a lack of exposure in business data analysis and management, the growth of our business has remained limited up to some 40 clients nationwide and a handful of 30 employees. Lack of educational expertise is a major reason behind such numbers. Irrespective of possessing enormous potential, I found that my growth has stagnated due to a lack of academic and technical expertise. I cannot pursue stagnation. I would, rather, embrace the opportunity to upgrade my profile according to the prerequisites of information technology business analysis. I wish to be the changemaker in the history of our family business by equipping myself with the most necessary formal training in Information Technology and Business Analysis. I am eager to begin my studies at Conestoga College at the earliest so that I can implement my learnings in our business with an immediate effect.

Reasons to return to India

Family Ties

I have been raised in a traditional joint family in India. My family comprises a total of nine members, including my parents, grandfather, brother, uncle, aunt, and their two children. Having always been raised in a joint family has made me closer to all of my family members. I share a very special bond with my grandfather too. Also, I am the eldest son in my family which makes me even more accountable to return home and support my family in terms of financial, emotional, and physical support. My family looks up to me to manage all the assets upon my arrival back home and I wish to fulfill their desires in my best capacity. Hence, soon after the completion of my course in Canada, I wish to return to my native land to be with my family and support them with all my love, care, and attention. Moreover, belonging to a business class, we possess noteworthy assets in the form of movables and immovables that I will need to manage. Not having any ties in Canada is also an indication that I will seek to make an early exit from the country upon completion of my studies there. Thus, my genuineness as a temporary student entrant can be recognized with an intent to return home.

Future plans

Equipping myself with a robust course such as Information technology Business Analysis will bring me closer to achieving my short-term as well as long-term career goals.  I wish to make the best utilization of my study time in Canada so that I can maximize my international exposure. It will come in handy while dealing with international stakeholders later in my business dealings in India. Thus, achieving the highest scores and practical exposure will remain my short-term goals. However, in the future, after the completion of my course, I would practice sensitive data handling at our business and leverage it to the success of our business, making it globally recognized.

Conclusion

Declaration of funds: I come from a well-established business family, that owns substantial properties and various intangible assets. The network of my father is CAD 112245.99, my mother is CAD 80012.15, and my grandfather is CAD 805639.70. Attached is a copy of the income proof and the CA-approved certificate.

My father has agreed to sponsor my stay and education in Canada. Therefore, I have paid a tuition fee of CAD (add figure), and have deposited CAD (add figure) to the GIC account. My family possesses sufficient funds to pay for my education, living expenses, and any additional expenses that I might incur in Canada. Required proof is enclosed herewith.

Language Proficiency: My study background in English convinces me of my language proficiency. However, to fulfill the language criteria, I have also taken the IELTS exam and scored an overall band of 7.0 (Listening- 7.5, Reading- 7.5, Writing- 6.5, Speaking- 7.0). Please find the IELTS transcript attached herewith.

Oath: I am a law-abiding individual wishing to pursue further education in Canada. Throughout my stay, I pledge to abide by the Canadian Immigration Laws. I have also made myself familiar with all the rules laid down for international student immigrants. I am equally supportive of following each while also exhibiting conducive behavior. Never, for once, I will disapprove the Canadian Law and culture. Rather, I will add to its rich diversity by paying huge respect to the freedom allowed to study at such a renowned institution.

I, therefore request you consider my application for a visa permit and allow me a chance to accomplish my study objectives in Canada.

Yours Sincerely,

Vihaan Thakur
