Sample SOP for MS in Packaging

Below is a Sample SOP for MS in Packaging

A unique observation that I made as a child has metamorphosed into my academic goal of pursuing an MS in packaging. Captivated about the fact that everything we consumed came in a lucrative packing has boosted me to embrace this field and enhance my knowledge through a focused curriculum.

As an Electrical Engineering student, I have studied subjects like Chemistry, Physics, Mechanics which brought to me the knowledge of the technical and scientific zones. This steered me towards analyzing the pertinence of sustainable products. Supplementing this, I also observed how electricity powers matter and how we can change materials using it. This learning happened where I understood how electricity is created how it reacts how it can be transferred and can create insulation (another form of packaging material) to contain the electricity etc.

Also, the practical work in form of projects that I did ameliorated the importance of practical work. Through the projects that I did I could perceive the ways in which concepts could be implemented. I worked on a project titled, Electronic Peak Flow Meter, a prototype model that measures the lung capacity of humans Another project that I did was titled, ‘Design and Simulation of Performance Parameters of Wind Power Generation’. This being my major project, I realized how I could use concepts to determine mathematical model of the wind turbine. It also involved validating it through simulation and eventually designing an appropriate controller for efficient energy production. I was carried away with this and conducted research too and presented the research and its conclusions in a conference at the National Conference on Recent Trends in Engineering, Technology and Management Sciences (RTETMS). The research geared me and I wanted to experience the corporate milieu.

My curiosity led me to join Accenture as ASA soon after completing mine under graduation. I was trained on SAP ABAP which was very enthusing and every contemporary learning delights me. During the training phase, my trainer recognized my analytical skills, and I was navigated to work as a service control analyst for Sun chemical and took charge of the project singlehandedly along with 4 newcomers, as my seniors in the team left the organization due to unforeseen reasons. This has been a wonderful experience and my learning was exponential. Before I started my professional journey, I had also interned at Renewsys India Pvt Ltd. Here I acquired the basic knowledge of the manufacturing process and the allied streams. I observed and was involved in creating and making an entire PV module, packing, arranging science and technology. Seeing my live studies that were implemented steadily, I felt I had the requisite skills.

Not only the job, but my inquisitiveness also took me to another level of starting a business with a unique idea. During the pandemic lockdowns, I started a small business called ‘Purple Solace’ along with two other friends. This was unique as we devised art kits for those who loved art, but did not how to make something creative and beautiful. Through this everyone can paint as we sell fluid art kits for art lovers but are at the infancy stage. Doing this has fulfilled my love for art and has allowed me to be a community helper by using half the profits in feeding the poor and stray dogs.

With business experience and professional exposure, I have the best of both and wish to now attain new skills through the MS in packaging course from Michigan State University. This will teach me the vitality of other aspects of packaging, including its sustainable aspect which excites me most. My short-term goal is to begin step by step into the packaging industry and unravel its link with Science, Technology, Business, Marketing, and Management aspects. Later as I gain experience, I want to bring sustainable packaging to a wide platform to conform to the environment as well.

MS in Packaging is all-pervasive and I am ready to march into this arena where I can work towards accomplishing my goals. My intended area of specialization in a graduate program at the Department of Packaging at Michigan State University will be in sustainable packaging. The methodology followed at the University will enable me to surfeit the resources optimally. Through this, I wish to attain my long-term goals and I am sure the professors at the University will be instrumental in this journey.

With the knowledge of the fields that I have so far gained, I am eager to reach the abyss. The MS will empower me to secure my goals and above all my passion for sustainable packaging.
