To,
The Officer,
Sub: Application requesting a study permit to Australia after Refusal
Dear Sir/Madam,
I take pride in introducing myself as Satish Sharma, an Indian national bearing passport number Z-7038273 who has planned to pursue further studies abroad. I am extremely eager to begin my further studies in Australia based on my admission to the reputed University of Western Australia in my chosen degree program Bachelor of Psychology. Through this Letter of Explanation, I aim to reveal my plans for the future, my reasons for pursuing further education in Australia, choosing the University of Western Australia, and my incentives to return home after the completion of my study program. I take pride in offering the minutest detail about my profile and solidifying my candidacy as a genuine temporary entrant.
Personal and academic background
I belong to a cultured family from Punjab which includes my parents and brother. My father is a Farmer and my mother is employed by the Women and Child Welfare Department, Punjab Government as an Asha Bahu and earns a substantial annual income. My brother is pursuing a B.A. from Punjab University. Alongside he works as a farmer with my Father. We own farmland of 17-18 acres while we have invested in real estate and our commercial properties earn us a decent income annually. As a result of this, my mother is willing to support me throughout my studies and has sponsored my education and stay in Australia. We earn a decent annual income of AUD 27,654 from agriculture which gives her enough confidence to support me. Also, our 8 acres of agricultural land and residential property of AUD 976315 strengthen our financial status.
As far as my academic journey is concerned, I passed my secondary school with 82.33% and senior secondary school with 91.3% in 2017 and 2019, respectively. Since childhood, I received a lot of encouragement from my mother to do something valuable for my society. Especially watching her associated with such a prominent profession, I was determined to pursue my career in a similar field. Hence, to contribute to my society, I pursued senior school with an arts stream wherein I learned the basics of community service which invigorated my interest in uplifting people’s emotional health. As a result of being a volunteer at various community services, I rendered exclusive emotional support to senior citizens and children from rural areas who lack awareness and resources to keep themselves informed or up-to-date. Smiling at people through resolving a major issue that they are dealing with gives me immense pleasure. Due to this warm-heartedness and love for my community, I have decided to pursue a career in psychology.
Why Bachelor of Psychology?
Since I always shared conversations about human behaviour and psychology with my peers and mentors, I, gradually, deepened my interest in helping society overcome the dilemma concerning mental well-being which is a very hot topic in my country. Especially, because my country is growing towards development and has a vastly growing metro culture. To cope with urbanization and access the loneliness that comes with it, people require professional help which is often neglected due to a very negative outlook on mental health in our society. I belong to the new generation. Hence, I want to become the harbor of change and revolutionize the way human psychology is perceived and treated in my home country. Therefore, I consider this course very appropriate for me. It perfectly matches my skillset and gives me the impetus to outshine as a renowned psychologist helping the needy with creative ideas and boosting their overall health and mood.
Why not India?
The course that I have chosen to pursue in Australia offers a vast curriculum. However, the same if pursued from India will lack practical training. I reviewed the curriculum available at the renowned Punjab University, Delhi University, and Amity University in my home country but less competitive study offerings made me opt for studying abroad, preferably in Australia. Our study system is also not practically competitive due to theoretically inclined pedagogy. Due to the evolving lifestyle in India, psychological needs are evolving too. Hence, I want to learn psychology from a global perspective because I aim to resolve modern psychology issues with utmost precision. Besides this garnering international exposure isn’t possible if I pursue my studies in India while I can certainly reap these benefits in Australia. Due to a comprehensive curriculum, Australian education is deemed worthy among Indian employers which makes me choose Australia instead of India.
Why study Australia?
Australia is one of the most renowned study destinations among other global education hubs like the USA, the UK, and Canada. I compared the cost of education in all of these countries with Australia and certainly found the latter to be more affordable and welcoming for me as an Indian student willing to pursue education abroad. By choosing Australia for my further studies, I am convinced that I have made the right choice. The country offers a quality of life along with affordable tuition fees. Innovation and research in education are prominent among Australian institutions. Also, the qualification gained here has global recognition and the pedagogy has a higher value among other nations. Considering the inclusion of a diverse population, the country is also very open and welcoming towards immigrants and treats foreign students right. I am sure to have a comfortable stay in Australia due to over 200 languages and dialects being included in Australia. I will also meet with a larger Indian crowd which will not make me feel out of place. I will be well-absorbed by the warm crowd in Australia which is certainly one of the factors which have impressed me and made me choose Australia over other countries.
Why the University of Western Australia?
Before finalizing the University of Western Australia, I compared a variety of other Australian Universities such as the University of South Australia, The University of Adelaide, Griffith University, etc., which have more or less similar courses to the cone I have chosen. However, the one that held my gaze for a long time was the course available at the University of Western Australia. It is a three years fulltime course which is far more competitive than those available in the above-mentioned universities. Also, this university offers the course at the most affordable cost which impressed me as per my study budget and made me prefer the University of Western Australia over others. Besides this, the University of Western Australia has a lot of resources available on campus which stimulates qualitative learning experience. An opportunity to undergo training-oriented programs and simulation activities along with work-integrated learning will help me in becoming an evolved professional. The curriculum includes courses such as <add courses> which interest me the most, especially concerning human behaviour and psychological treatments. I am most interested in developing a holistic approach to dealing with emotional problems so I can exercise the same upon returning home. Especially learning to deal with psychological issues from a global perspective will help me in tackling modern issues more swiftly. Besides a robust curriculum, the University of Western Australia equips the most advanced infrastructure and faculty which drew me to this institution. This study program is progressive and flexible and the university has consistently ranked in the top hundred psychology departments in the QS World University Rankings. Hence, I have chosen to study here and nurture my skills to become a strong professional upon completing my graduation.
Future Goal
After the completion of my study program in Australia, I aim to fulfill my training needs in a global environment and utilize the lean period in garnering practical exposure in this foreign land. With my able qualifications and guidance from my mentors, I would seek training opportunities with various human welfare NGOs like the Anglican Board of Mission Australia (ABM), ActionAid Australia, Act for Peace- National Council of Churches Australia (NCCA) where I can train myself under guided mentorship from qualified and experienced senior psychologists. It will serve as a cornerstone of success for me as this exposure will help me get lucrative career opportunities back home. The upcoming need for counsellors, psychologists, and psychiatrists in India with an increased awareness of psychological health will help me in getting a swift entry into renowned NGOs, care homes, hospitals, institutions, rehabilitations, or related organizations. I will get an edge over other with my foreign education and international exposure to approach top names in the health and medical sector which includes but are not limited to Fortis Hospital, MAX Hospitals, Apollo, Father Muller Medical College and Mental Health Centre, Athma Hospitals, Schizophrenia Research Foundation (SCARF), Tulasi Healthcare, State Mental Health Institute, etc. I want to deep dive into my career as a psychology professional and uncover major realms of the industry by serving at the top of the hierarchy serving as a director or Head of the Department in any of the above-mentioned facilities. It will outgrow me as a professional and I will be able to distinguish myself among Indian employers. As a starting salary, I would be able to get an annual remuneration of AUD 19613 which will be very lucrative for me as I will begin with a very handsome salary at the start which will eventually make me reach the top of my career and secure my financial future while also fulfilling my dream of contributing to the lives of people.
To fulfill the eligibility criteria, I have also taken the PTE examination and obtained a Listening score of 81, Reading score of 73, Writing score of 69, and Speaking score of 90. It showcases my command of the English Language and makes me an eligible fit to pursue further studies in Australia. Fulfilling my study goals in Australia will be a life-changing opportunity for me as I will get an elevated career start from the beginning of my career. It will set a solid foundation for my future growth.
I, hereby, conclude that I have furnished all the supporting documentation and fulfilled all visa conditions. Details of my expenses have been outlined hereunder:
