Sub: Application in response to study permit refused on 11/03/2021 (S3046957050)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I, Saanvi Patel, find myself fortunate to have received an opportunity for reinstating my purpose of visit to Canada. I am an experienced professional possessing a fair understanding of the accounting business. However, the inclusion of Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Big Data, or crypto has inspired me to upgrade my existing qualifications to a higher level incorporating strategic management. After years of service, I must rise in my career graph. Thus, I have carefully chosen to pursue a graduate Certificate in Strategic Management- Accounting Specialization from Centennial College. Considering my past academic records and related professional experience, I have also received a Letter of Admission from the college for the May 2022 intake. However, to my dismay, my previous visa application suffered approval due to the following reasons:
- I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.
- Refused under R216(1)(b). Given the applicant’s previous education and/or employment history, I am not satisfied that the motivation to pursue this particular program at this point in time in Canada is reasonable.
I, therefore, intend to utilize this application as a medium to support my candidacy as a genuine temporary entrant as well as describe a clear motivation behind this course. Also, I earnestly hope that by the end of this application, I would be able to provide a valid justification for my likeliness to return to my home country.
Purpose of Visit
I, hereby declare that my sole intent to visit Canada is backed by a strong desire to upgrade my skills in modern accounting methods as well as develop my skills in strategic management of an organization. After serving in the accounting industry, I have gained a clear-cut understanding of the significance of accounting management. Yet my abilities in strategic management remain limited due to the limited learning opportunities in the past. Therefore, at this time in my career, I wish to prepare myself for securing better career opportunities in the future. Thus, I have planned to study in Canada irrespective of exploring study options indigenously. I have found that the program offered by Centennial College is the most appropriate study choice for me due to involving the topics of my interest and caliber. I must rise in my career graph to first equip myself with an international qualification that is deemed worthy amongst Indian employers. Therefore, Canada is the best option for me to follow my academic pursuits.
Why Canada
Studying in Canada is by far the dream of every student. However, it is the most technically advanced training pattern that drew me to finalize Canada for pursuing further studies. Through my research into the Canadian education system, I have concluded that it checks all the boxes for me, especially considering the learning opportunities, budgetary convenience, cross-cultural interactions, advanced pedagogy, peaceful atmosphere, quality of life, and whatnot. By studying in Canada, I am sure to excel in my academics due to getting dedicated study hours which is currently impossible in my homely atmosphere. I will grow in international exposure as well upgrade my knowledge of accounts handling procedures in developed countries which will give me an upper hand while working in my country. Moreover, knowing about the laws and policies outlined in favor of international students instills a lot of trust in me to seek further educational opportunities in Canada.
Why not India: Studies in India involve theoretical learning while in Canada, I will gain qualitative practical exposure. Moreover, the programs with similar intensity as Centennial College’s course offering are limited in my country. I have also speculated that we have the Indian Institute of Management (IIMS) that offers a similar course with practical exposure. Unfortunately, due to having limited seats, I cannot pursue my studies there. However, gaining an education in Canada will also allow me to gain international exposure that I cannot find in my country. Thus, I believe Canada is the perfect choice for me.
Why Strategic Management- Accounting Specialization from Centennial College?
After finalizing my study destination, I eagerly pursued the process that follows. I browsed through very many colleges and their courses until I found the one offered at Centennial College. To my surprise, this is the program that I have been looking to pursue desperately. It has all the curriculum specifics that I am aspiring to nurture myself in. I will study topics in Advanced Accounting Information Systems, Corporate and Business Law, Accounting for Managerial Decision Making, Ethics and Stakeholder Management, Advanced Taxation, Advanced Financial Accounting that interest me the most. Moreover, this program acts as a benefitting pathway towards honing a degree upon obtaining a specific GPA of 2.0 or higher. I am more than excited to be a part of such a benefitting program that will open doors of opportunities for me in the future. I have also researched the college atmosphere and have found it to be the most juvenile place to educate oneself. Eminent faculty, robust infrastructure, practical training, industry visits, commendable speakers, and all that one might dream of can be found at Centennial College. It makes me want to begin my studies at the earliest to derive such an experience.
Motivation to pursue the program
My motivation to pursue a dedicated career in accounting management dates back to the beginning of my career with Dadha Pharma Distribution Private Ltd where I joined as an Accountant in 2016 and served till 2018. Over the two golden years of learning, I sharpened my intellect in monthly tax return filing, bank reconciliation, TDS filing, cash flow statements, etc. Since then, I have never wanted to rethink my career choice, rather always found ways to grow in this profession. My hard work, passion, and dedication to the field allowed me to progress into the role of Accounts Associate with Conduent Business Services India LLP, where I worked from 2018 to 2019. Here, I dealt with supplier invoices, claim settlements, invoice reconciliation, handling of CRM incidents, and much more that come as a part of being associated with a corporate. Meanwhile, I also upgraded my existing knowledge by obtaining a certification in a one-year Computerized accounting course from <add starting year> to <add ending year>. It furthered my efficiency in working with multiple accounting software, especially tally, and Oracle as used mostly in the Indian accounting system. However, after relocating to Bangalore in 2019, I couldn’t explore my professional career further due to the covid-19 outbreak. Now when everything has begun to settle with rigorous vaccine drives, I wish to actualize my plan of advancing my education further. After thoroughly analyzing my profile and discussing it with my mentors, I have concluded that the course offered at Centennial College is the perfect expansion of my existing knowledge base.
This program at Centennial College will allow me to develop core competitive skills required by accounts managers to deal with routine complex issues in an active business environment. As an experienced professional, I have learned about the industry transitions from paper to paperless and basic technology to hi-technology. I do not want to leave a single stone unturned to keep myself from securing promotional opportunities in India. Thus, I wish to equip myself with the latest industry trends and develop a strategic approach to offering impeccable accounting services to my future employers.

Thus, I also share fair responsibilities towards them that I cannot imagine staying away from them for a longer time. Therefore, I plan to return to my country soon after the completion of my study program at Centennial College. Also, being a wife, I have to fulfill certain couple goals along with my husband for which I aim to be physically present in my country. Also, in a couple of years, we intend to increase our family and raise our children together. Moreover, we possess substantial properties, golds, and liquid assets as family heritage that I and my husband need to take care of. Thus, to fulfill my responsibilities towards my elders, husband, and family assets, I will return to my home country. I also do not possess any family ties in Canada that serves as a valid justification in favor of my candidacy as a genuine temporary entrant.
Future plans
To obtain technical expertise remains my sole purpose of acquiring dedicated education via the Graduate Certificate Program in Strategic Management-Accounting Specialization, that being my short-term career goal.
